The Last X Years Podcast
Jay Bernard, Caroline Sinders
Ten years have passed since the EU referendum of June 2016, and as we reach the ‘X’ (or ‘ten’) signalled in the title, Artangel launches a new podcast mini-series to unpack the themes in the project.
Here, Bernard introduces the podcast with an exploration into the civic role of the poet. They say: ‘The poet once had a social role in making meaning and acting as a witness… now this role is less clear, though the desire for meaning is just as intense as it ever was.’

Extraordinary art, unexpected places
Artangel has always gone where others fear to tread. We collaborate with artists who defy boundaries to give form to extraordinary ideas. The art we produce boldly responds to the environment in which we live. It’s often unlike anything you have experienced before. We've taken over an empty prison, uncovered an underground opera house, made sculpture from solid air, commissioned a mile-high column of light, and a thousand-year-long piece of music.
